Philosophical workshop and sound creation, on both sides of employment

The first public broadcast of the sound creation "Brûler dedans / Brûler dehors (de part et d'autre de l'emploi) (Burning in / Burning out. On both sides of employment) designed by the workshop participants is set for 15 December 2018 at the Liege PointCulture.

To start, there is Où est Alice ?, the Compagnie Paulette Godart’s first theatre project backed by Voix De Femmes. This story-riddle explores the hidden side of work through the meeting of two women living on the edge. A social and surrealist thriller, the text highlights violence in the workplace and hypothesizes on social bonds as drivers of change. The show will take place at the Théâtre de Liègein January 2019.

Going further, there is the increasing violence and suffering, both in the workplace but also in the sphere of access to employment. In this context, women are on the front line.

It is in this framework that Lara Persain, in collaboration with and Catherine Wilkin from Compagnie Paulette Godart and PhiloCité, created a series of workshops designed for the women most affected by this, and who usually meet, on different sides of the same desk : social and medical workers, on one side, and “beneficiaries” (patients, unemployed women, women entering the workforce and/or in training, etc.) on the other.

These workshops, alternating philosophical dialogue and individual and collective writing processes, made it possible to create a space for and among the participants to express themselves and analyse, thus collecting the knowledge and know-how on violence-related issues and women's suffering in the workplace.

The exchange and results of these encounters inspired the collective creation of an auditory and artistic object, seen as a tool to raise awareness and share. It will accompany the show Où est Alice ?when it is launched and then during its tour across the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.
