Residency 1: The Novitiate
The first steps of Sister Sardine in the creation Novitiate. She searches for a light that will illuminate the hearts of her lesbian sisters and dons the white habit. The story of Coriandre and Eva brings out the sisters’ laughter in each other. It allows a nervous voice to be heard between desire and pure emotion, rage and fits of laughter.
In terms of music, these are unlikely combinations of holy music and popular 80s music, as well as a beginning with raw music and more haunting compositions to increase tensions before the explosion of disobedience.
The main influences on this week of creation were:
- Le Génie Lesbien (The Lesbian Genius), by Alice Coffin, for political and committed reflection;
- A cross between the web series Les Goudous and the group Les Trash Croutes, for humour and future choreography ;
- The album Utopia by Björk: a utopian and heavenly world, magical and close to nature, free of the patriarchy. For the plastic, the imaginary, and the dream convent.
All this with a sweet taste of ritual, disobedience and jubilation!
